A log is only as good as its integrity. Once you have built your AI audit trails, the next hurdle is ensuring they remain accessible and protected from alteration. Regulatory bodies and contractual partners are increasingly demanding "right to audit" access. This means your organization must have the controls in place to prevent data obfuscation and the agility to produce these records on a tight deadline.

This second part of our model clause focuses on retention, security, and the speed of compliance.

Model Clause: Retention and Oversight

All audit records shall be retained in accordance with applicable legal, regulatory, and contractual retention requirements and reviewed for integrity within XX days of each retention cycle. Audit data shall remain accessible to authorized oversight, compliance, and audit personnel. Where any regulatory authority or authorized party requests access, the Organization shall provide records within XX days. The Organization shall implement controls to prevent unauthorized alteration or deletion and conduct periodic assessments to ensure audit trails support independent evaluation of system fairness and accuracy.
